Kirsti Anttila, Horse Painter

Kirsti Anttila is a Finnish painter and illustrator, whose speciality is horse motive. She uses oil, pastel, and etching as her media.

Kirsti Anttila completed her studies in visual arts at the Helsinki University of Applied Arts. Since 1986, she has taken part in both group and private exhibitions yearly. Several of her exhibitions have been arranged entirely about the horse motive. Many of them have occured in connection with main horse events in Finland, Sweden and in the USA.

For example she has been three times (1993, 1997, 2006) invited to give a horse art exhibition, arranged by the local municipality or raceway in connection with the “Kuninkuusravit” – The major yearly Finnish trotting race event. As well, she has taken part twice (1998 and 1999) in the international horse art exhibition and sale organised by Harnes Tracks of America, in Lexington, Kentucky, U.S.A

She has also been invited by the triannual National Horse event “Week of the Horse” in Helsinki 2003 to exhibit her horse paintings together with the Finnish sculpturer Herman Joutsen’s bronze statues.

Kirsti Anttila has been rewarded a scholarship by the Finnish Central Committee of Art.

Numerous paintings by Kirsti Anttila are in posession of major horse organisations and the most prominent stables, as well as galleries and private enthusiasts in Europe, America, and Asia. Kirsti Anttila’s favourite models are equally riding and harness horses. She prefers to paint horses with a great character.
